Greetings from Cynthia Plumas, Owner & Program Director Cynthia founded Cynergy Dance Company in July 2003. She has over 25 years of dance experience and has been teaching all levels of dance for over 18 years. She currently teaches Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical and Salsa dance classes. Cynthia continues to develop her dance training and technqiue by participating in various dance workshops and competitions. Cynthia earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management from Texas State University in 1993. She has managed Cynergy Dance Studio for five years. Her goal is to continue building her business and her dance education by providing a versatile and unequivocal dance program suitable for students of all ages in order to help them reach their individual goals, improve self-confidence and provide them with an enjoyable and energetic dance experience. Cynthia enjoys reaching out to the community in any way possible. She has volunteered in several community events and is a supporter of the San Antonio United Way Program. Cynthia has been a pageant mentor and was also selected to judge the Miss San Antonio Teen Pageants in 2004 and 2006 and the 2007 San Antonio Jam Fest Dance competition and the 2008 Talent Explosion Dance Competition in San Marcos. Cynthia is a proud sponsor and mentor of two dance students competing in the 2009 National American Miss Pageant in Anaheim, California. She is also Cynergy's lead Choreographer for Special Events to include Quinceanera, Sweet 16 and Weddings. Cynthia has choreographed dances for several special event groups in the cities of Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas. |
Kimberly Olivarez, Dance Team Director Kimberly has over 9 years of dance and teaching experience. She teaches jazz, hip-hop, ballet, leap and turns, cardio dance and is Cynergy's Competitive Dance Team Instructor. She is a former dance team member at Churchill High School. Kimberly has danced for the WNBA Silver Stars team during the 2003-2004 season and was also a member of the San Antonio Spurs Dance Team during the 2004-2007 seasons. She was selected nation wide to represent the San Antonio Spurs for the first ever 2007 NBA All-Star dance team in Las Vegas. Kimberly has danced with Will Smith, Bryan Adams, Laurie Ann Gibson, Frankie J., Paula Dianda, Clay Walker, and along side Christina Aguilera. Kimberly also coached the Dance Team at Antonian College Preparatory High School during the 2006-2007 school year. In addition to teaching at Cynergy Dance, Kimberly is also a Television Show host for Zonido, a Latin Music and Video Show, which airs on KSAT-12. Samara, Beginning Egyptian Belly Dance Instructor Samara has been dancing since the age of 5 with 7 consecutive years of training in Classical Ballet mixed in those years as well as throughout her teens she has had various classes in Jazz, Tap, Dutch Dance & Modern Ballet! She was in high school Gymnastics for 4 years as well as a Cheerleader for Western Michigan University for 2 years! She also took Jazz courses while attending the university. Since college, she has taken classes through the Holland Area Arts Council in Hip-Hop, Brazilian Samba and Classical Egyptian Belly Dance! In class, Samara instructs you through various movements to the correct rhythms while teaching a original choroegraphy of her own. She has taken workshops with Jasmin Jahal, Laura Armenta, Sonya of Chicago, Bahaia, Sadie, Sa'diyya, Amaya , Tempest, Emily of Circus Tribal, Michelle Joyce & Souhail Kaspar and more. Samara has danced for various events such as American Latino TV, the Holland Area Arts Council, St. Leo's Festival, The Austin Belly Dance Convention Day Shows, Desert Passion, Houston Street Fair Market in San Antonio, Arabian Nights in Austin, The Mezze Cafe in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Papouli's Greek Grill, Shiraz Restaurant, Weddings, Birthdays, Haflas,Bahaia and Michelle Joyce's "Undulations" show and recording and more! Samara taught at Cynergy since 2006. In addition to teaching classes at the studio, she is available for semi and private lessons as well as workshops. Heather Breves, Dance Instructor Heather has over 15 years of dance and cheer experience, ranging from Alsatian Folk dancing to hip-hop and jazz. Heather is a former member of the Medina Valley Top Cats dance team, as well as a former Medina Valley Varsity Cheerleader. Heather has danced at various events, including the Cotton Bowl and the National High School All-Star Football game. She is also a former member of the San Antonio dance troupe, Alamotion. Heather has taught various kids dance and cheer camps, and she is currently working toward earning her teacher's certification. Heather is excited to join the Cynergy dance family. Leslie Perez, Ballet & Modern Instructor Leslie Pérez is a native of Laredo, Texas. After high school, Ms. Pérez moved to Denton, Texas where she graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. At TWU she studied with professors Sarah Gamblin (Bebe Miller Company), Melissa M. Young (Dallas Black Dance Theatre), and Jordan Fuchs (Jordan Fuchs Dance Company). She also attended workshops taught by Amy O'Neal (Locust), and master classes taught by guest artist Anthony J. Russo (Tapdemics and Tapdogs). Ms. Pérez studies a wide variety of dance genres such as modern/post-modern, ballet, improvisation, African, and hip-hop dance. As a former student at Texas Woman's University, Ms. Perez had the opportunity to perform for The International Dance Company, directed by Gladys Keeton, and DanceWorks Repertory Company, directed by Mary Williford-Shade. She has also performed professionally for a local Laredo dance company called Laredo Dance Initiative. Leslie Pérez is currently living in San Antonio, Texas where she continues to spread her love of dance through instruction at Cynergy Dance Company. |
